 +Events that could be incorporated into an ongoing campaign, or could be used as a one-off.
 +===Madame du Pompadour===
 +In 1745, Louis XV gave a grand ball on the occasion of the engagement of his eldest son to a daughter of the King of Spain. One participant was Jeanne Antoinette, an accomplished and beautiful actress but of humble birth. After the victory over the English at Fontenoy in May, 1745, she was given the deed to an estate at Pompadour and the title Marquise de Pompadour. She was established as a royal mistress.
 +===Casanova visits===
 +Exiled from Venice for his crimes, Casanova seeks help from the French court and forgiveness from the Venetian ambassador so he may return home.
 +===La B+¬te du G+¬vaudan===
 +Between 1764 and 1767 a wolf-like creature terrorises the province of G+¬vaudan, in the Margeride Mountains in south-central France.  Although being nominally part of Languedoc, G+¬vaudan kept its own States General until 1789. During the same period, G+¬vaudan is a crossroad of pilgrimage trails.
 +
 +The first attack that provides a description of the creature takes place in May/June of 1764. A girl from Langogne was working on a farm in the For+¬t de Mercoire when she sees a large, wolf-like animal emerge from the trees and charge directly toward her, but it is driven away by the farm's bulls.
 +
 +During the following three years, fifteen women, sixty-eight children, and six men are killed, another 30 wounded or mauled.
 +
 +On January 12, 1765, Jacques Portefaix and six friends are attacked by the Beast; they drive it away by staying grouped together. Their fight catches the attention of King Louis XV, who awards 300 livres to the men. The King then directs professional wolf-hunters, Jean-Charles-Marc-Antoine Vaumesle d'Enneval and his son Jean-Fran+ºois, to kill the beast.
