The spirits of a married couple who died in a car accident occasionally visit the hotel. They aren't bound to the place, so they're not always there. They're not malicious, but they are mischievous, and they delight in playing harmless pranks on the hotel's residents and visitors.
I got this bit from the Cary Grant movie Topper.
